Line & Wrinkles FAQs
What is Botulinum Toxin?
It is a purified protein derived from bacteria. It is used in cosmetic treatments to temporarily relax muscles & reduce the appearance of wrinkles & fine lines.

How does Botulinum Toxin work?
It blocks nerve signals to the muscles in the treated area, causing them to relax. This relaxation helps to smooth out wrinkles & prevent them from becoming more prominent.

What areas can be treated with Botulinum Toxin?
It is commonly used to treat wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, & around the eyes. It can also be used for other areas.

Is Botulinum Toxin safe?
When administered by a trained & qualified professional, Botulinum Toxin is considered safe. However, it is important to disclose any medical conditions, allergies, or medications you are taking during your consultation to ensure its safety for you.

I am considering Botulinum Toxin for the first time. What is the process?
Firstly, schedule a complimentary consultation to assess your needs & discuss your desired outcomes with Isabel. During this consultation the procedure will be explained, including potential side effects & risks. There is no obligation to proceed afterwards. If you decide to go ahead you can book your treatment either during the consultation or online afterwards. At the treatment appointment, you will complete a medical questionnaire & a consent form. You will also receive aftercare advice. A follow-up appointment will be planned for two weeks later to evaluate the results & effectiveness of your treatment. During this review the possibility of any additional treatment or "top-ups" can be discussed & administered if required.

How long does a Botulinum Toxin treatment session take?
A treatment session typically takes around 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated. Each appointment is scheduled for a one hour period to allow for any questions & to cover consent & aftercare.

Is the treatment painful?
The procedure involves using a fine needle to inject the Botulinum Toxin into targeted muscles, which may cause discomfort during insertion, but is usually well-tolerated.

How soon will I see results after Botulinum Toxin treatment?
Results from Botulinum Toxin injections are not immediate. It usually takes a few days to start seeing the effects, with optimal results appearing within 1 to 2 weeks. The treated area will gradually become smoother & wrinkles will appear less noticeable.

How long does Botulinum Toxin last?
The effects of Botulinum Toxin are temporary, typically lasting around 3 to 4 months. Over time, the muscle activity will gradually return & wrinkles may reappear. Periodic maintenance treatments can help to sustain the desired results.

Are there any side effects of Botulinum Toxin?
Common side effects of Botulinum Toxin include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or slight discomfort at the injection site. These effects are generally mild & resolve on their own within a few days. Serious complications are rare but can occur, so it's important to have the treatment performed by a qualified professional.

Can anyone get Botulinum Toxin?
Botulinum Toxin is generally safe for most healthy adults. However, certain individuals, such as pregnant or breastfeeding women, those with certain neuromuscular or clotting disorders, or individuals allergic to Botulinum Toxin ingredients, may not be suitable candidates.
